Loss, Memory, Compassion, and Self Care
May 24, 2017 3:30pm - 4:30pmLoss, Memory, Compassion, and Self Care: An Exploration in Art This informal discussion is particularly aimed at nursing professionals and others involved in direct patient care. Using images from the University of Michigan Museum of Art's collection, participants will be invited to reflect on the human experiences of loss, memorialization, compassion, and self-care. This session will include looking at art, discussion, reflection and the opportunity to learn a simple, non-denominational meditation technique for self-care in the face of loss or other life experiences. Ruth Slavin is Deputy Director for Education at the University of Michigan Museum of Art and is part of a national network of museum educators interested in art and medicine and art and restorative experience.
