Noise exposure and hearing loss has been linked with multiple health problems. Although programs to promote hearing protector use among farm and non-farm youth have demonstrated short- and long-term increases in hearing protector use, their impact has been limited by program reach and sustainability. Results of a randomized controlled trial of 2000 farm and rural youth testing programs to increase hearing conservation practices among farm and rural youth is described.
