Diabetes Prevention Program starting soon

If you have prediabetes, you can cut your risk of developing type 2 diabetes in half by losing 5 to 7 percent of your body weight. That is about 10 to 14 pounds for a person weighing 200 pounds. In the PreventT2 Program -- also known as the Diabetes Prevention Program -- at U-M, participants work in a group with a registered dietitian to learn the skills needed to lose weight, become more physically active and manage stress. An overreliance on readability formulas and readability scores is a common mistake health care professionals make when writing materials for patients. That's why all health system clinicians are invited to participate in the Patient Education Center’s class, “Beyond Readability Formulas: Writing Clear and Effective Patient-Centered Educational Materials.” The class will take place on Friday, Dec. 16 from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. This class will focus on proven principles and guidelines of writing in plain language. Good news! The West elevator replacement project in the Glen Ave. parking structure is complete. The new elevator is scheduled to begin operation Tuesday afternoon.
