U-M’s NCID launches three new DE&I initiatives, expands existing program

The U-M National Center for Institutional Diversity is launching three new initiatives and expanding an existing program as part of its ongoing strategic efforts to enhance diversity in higher education and society. The center, which opened in 2005, will roll out its new Distinguished Diversity and Social Transformation Professorship, Grants to Support Research and Scholarship for Change, and the Distinguished Diversity Scholar Career Award and initiatives. U-M highlights Diversity, Equity & Inclusion accomplishments months after plan launch

Four months into the implementation of U-M’s five-year diversity, equity and inclusion strategic plan, many of the 49 campus units have made measurable progress toward accomplishing first-year goals. Several units have hired staff members to lead their DE&I implementation, while programs such as Wolverine Pathways and the HAIL Scholarship have created and enhanced pipelines to the university for underrepresented populations. Universitywide, two DE&I student advisory boards were created to ensure collaboration and student engagement at all levels. With the organization recently changing its name to Michigan Medicine, there are several things to keep in mind when it comes to branding and logo guidelines. Here’s what you need to know: All areas are now unified under the Michigan Medicine logo. Rather than using the more than 2,000 logos associated with our various departments, programs and units, the umbrella Michigan Medicine logo should be used in conjunction with department names to reinforce our institution's brand equity.
