Three U-M Medical School faculty members have been appointed to leadership positions. Their new roles, approved Thursday by the board of regents, are effective April 1. Mark E.P. Prince, M.D., has been appointed chair of the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery; Ella A. Kazerooni, M.D., interim chair of the Department of Radiology; and Seetha U. Monrad, M.D., assistant dean for assessment, evaluation and quality improvement. Prince has served as interim chair since July 2016. U-M explores construction of new adult inpatient facility

Michigan Medicine will undertake an architectural planning study for a potential new adult inpatient facility in Ann Arbor. Thursday, the board of regents authorized Michigan Medicine to hire HOK Group, Inc. architects at a cost of $18.4 million to complete a comprehensive assessment for this proposed construction project. The proposed plan would include the relocation of 110 beds from University Hospital plus 154 new beds for a total of 264. Ann S. McGinity, Ph.D., R.N., FAAN, was recently named the organization’s chief nurse executive, effective June 1. McGinity comes to Michigan Medicine from Houston Methodist Hospital, where she served as global senior advisor since 2016 and chief operating officer from 2014-2016. Prior to that, she served for 10 years as the chief nurse executive and senior vice president of operations and oversaw their successful three-time designation as a Magnet hospital.
