Mark D. Pearlman, M.D. named interim chair of Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology

Mark D. Pearlman, M.D., the S. Jan Behrman Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, will assume the role of interim chair for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, effective July 1. Pearlman will serve in this role while the organization conducts a national search for the next permanent chair of the department. Since 1990, Pearlman has been a valued and exceptional member of Michigan Medicine's faculty. In 2001, Mark was appointed as the S. Roger Cone named vice provost, director of biosciences initiative

Roger Cone, director of the U-M Life Sciences Institute, has been named to an additional role as the university's first vice provost and director of the biosciences initiative, effective immediately. The appointment was approved Thursday by the board of regents. Cone, a distinguished obesity researcher and experienced administrator, joined U-M from the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine a year ago.
