U-M Health System COO to serve on MHA, AHA boards

Tony Denton, senior vice president and chief operating officer of the U-M Health System, was recently reappointed to the board of the Michigan Health and Hospital Association. He will serve a three-year term. The MHA represents all community hospitals in Michigan and advocates for its members in both legislative and regulatory arenas. Denton will also soon be appointed as an alternate delegate for the American Hospital Association Regional Policy Board. Mark D. Pearlman, M.D. named interim chair of Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology

Mark D. Pearlman, M.D., the S. Jan Behrman Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, will assume the role of interim chair for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, effective July 1. Pearlman will serve in this role while the organization conducts a national search for the next permanent chair of the department. Since 1990, Pearlman has been a valued and exceptional member of Michigan Medicine's faculty. In 2001, Mark was appointed as the S. Michigan Medicine reports strong financial results, growth in fiscal year 2017

Michigan Medicine reported positive fiscal year-end results Thursday, with an anticipated 5.6 percent ($210 million) operating margin on budgeted operating revenues of $3.7 billion for the U-M Health System. Michigan Medicine’s U-M Health System includes three hospitals, 125 clinics and the U-M Medical Group. Pierre Coulombe, Ph.D. to lead U-M Department of Cell & Developmental Biology

One of the oldest departments at U-M is about to get a new leader. The U-M board of regents Thursday approved the appointment of Pierre A. Coulombe, Ph.D., to lead the Department of Cell and Developmental Biology in the medical school. Coulombe will become chair on August 1, and lead one of the nine basic science departments at Michigan Medicine. Roger Cone named vice provost, director of biosciences initiative

Roger Cone, director of the U-M Life Sciences Institute, has been named to an additional role as the university's first vice provost and director of the biosciences initiative, effective immediately. The appointment was approved Thursday by the board of regents.
