Faculty, staff wear red to support cardiovascular disease research, education

Heart disease and stroke kills 1 in 3 women, yet it’s 80 percent preventable. To raise awareness for cardiovascular disease research and education and help support efforts to end the disease, many Michigan Medicine faculty and staff members are wearing red today. As part of the day’s festivities, a photographer will be touring the Frankel Cardiovascular Center to take photos of faculty and staff proudly displaying their red. U-M employee campaign raises $1.2M for United Way

The U-M 2017 United Way employee giving campaign raised more than $1.2 million to support the Washtenaw County United Way.The campaign took place from Oct. 9-Dec. 31 and included more than 150 volunteers who encouraged members of their departments to participate.The effort occurs each fall and brings together U-M and Michigan Medicine in support of the community.The dollars raised will benefit programs and services through the Community Investment Fund or nonprofit organizations designated by each specific donor.The Community Investment Fund seeks to coordinate funding of human service programs in Washtenaw County.
