Michigan Medicine has just added a Spring session for PreventT2, the Diabetes Prevention Program. The program kicks off with a free orientation session on Thursday, March 22 from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. at Domino’s Farms.

If you are at high risk for developing type 2 diabetes, attend this orientation to learn how to cut your risk in half. At this session, you will hear more details about this yearlong program and find out if it is right for you. At the end of this session, you will have an opportunity to enroll if you decide to proceed with the program.

In PreventT2, participants learn how to reverse prediabetes through balanced meal planning, physical activity and moderate weight loss. Each session is led by a registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator.

This intensive program meets weekly for the first six months, then once or twice a month for the remainder of the year. The spring session begins April 12.

You are eligible for the program if you meet both of these requirements:

  • Lab results showing A1C of 5.7-6.4% in the last year.
  • BMI of 25 or higher (23 or higher if Asian).

This is a covered benefit for eligible members of BCN U-M Premier Care. For all other insurance plans, an out-of-pocket fee may apply.

Attendance at an orientation session is required for enrollment. To RSVP, email or call 734-998-2475 and select option 1.
