Social Work collected more than 2,910 socks during their recent collection efforts.

The Michigan Medicine Social Work Department recently sponsored a sock drive to benefit those who are experiencing homelessness in the area.

The sock drive was coordinated by the Social Work Recognition Committee, which selected the project due to socks being identified as the No. 1 needed article of clothing by homeless shelters.

The initial goal was to collect 500 pairs of socks. The department divided into 10 teams and the team collecting the most socks won a free lunch.

In the end, the team that collected the most socks surpassed the goal of the entire project, collecting 907 pairs of socks! The department is thrilled and humbled by the generosity of the Michigan Medicine community, with more than 2,910 pairs of socks collected during the drive.

Congratulations to everyone involved in this worthy cause!
