MiChart upgrade coming Oct. 21

Effective Oct. 21, MiChart users will get an enhancement to the usability, customization potential and overall look and feel of MiChart with the latest upgrade. Some prominent application features to receive updates are:

  • Chart review
  • Flowsheets
  • Haiku/Canto
  • InBasket
  • Navigators
  • Orders
  • Patient Lists
  • Much, much more

Training information

To ensure all MiChart users are familiar with the changes to the system, everyone is asked to take the MiChart Upgrade eLearning prior to go-live. The eLearning course has been automatically assigned to all Michigan Medicine employees who have logged into MiChart over the last year.*

To access the course, simply visit the “My Learning Plan” section of MLearning and select the course. The eLearning has been assigned according to specific roles and is expected to take approximately 30 minutes to complete.

Town hall presentations

Health Information Technology & Services (HITS) and its partners will provide an opportunity for inpatient MiChart users to get further information about the MiChart upgrade during the following town hall presentations. Since many Michigan Medicine employees will be unable to attend these meetings, please visit the MiChart Upgrade page for the most up-to-date information.

  • Oct. 3, 7:30 a.m. – 9 a.m.
  • Oct. 12, 3 – 4:30 p.m.

Customization freeze and downtime information

Starting the evening of Friday, Oct. 13, the following MiChart customization options will be unavailable:

  • Creating/editing filters in Chart Review
  • Creating/editing SmartPhrases and SmartLinks
  • Personalizing dashboards
  • Creating/editing/sharing NoteWriter Macros
  • Moving your Notes
  • Creating/editing QuickActions

Starting the evening of Friday, Oct. 20, MiChart will experience an extended downtime from 11:45 p.m. to the following morning at 5 a.m. Standard MiChart downtime procedures should be followed during this time; instructions for the downtime will be sent out by the HITS Service Desk on the night of downtime.
