Medical equipment inventory to begin April 10

Next week, Clinical Engineering will begin conducting an inventory of all medical equipment at Michigan Medicine with the assistance of an outside vendor, Asset Services, Inc. This project includes the entire hospital campus and off-site locations. 

The inventory will satisfy Joint Commission requirements, help plan preventative maintenance and allow for accurate equipment replacement plans. 

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Representatives from Asset Services will be on-site beginning Monday, April 10 and are expected to complete the inventory by the end of June. 
  • The inventory specialists will be wearing navy blue scrubs with their company logo and will also wear red vendor badges. 
  • When specialists arrive in your department, please assist them in identifying any equipment that may be stored out of sight or if there are any rooms that are quarantined or where an inventory may not be feasible at the current time.

Clinical Engineering will provide daily updates during safety huddles to communicate where the vendor will be that day and where they are expected to be the following day.
