Interested in adding more vegetables to your diet but unsure where to begin? Two experts are ready to help you find your way!

Join Holly Scherer, a registered dietitian with MHealthy — the university’s health and well-being program — and a chef with Aramark Food Service, as they team up to demystify vegetarian cooking. The pair will demonstrate just how easy it is to make creative, simple and delicious foods you and your family will love — that happen to be vegetarian.

Attend “In the Kitchen with Chef — Vegetarian Style” on Tuesday, April 25 from noon until 1 p.m. in the Dow Auditorium. You’ll learn how to prepare asian soba noodles with tofu and vegetables, red lentil soup, jicama salad and caramelized cauliflower steaks.

The free event is part of a series of chef demonstrations on campus presented by MHealthy. It is open to all Michigan Medicine faculty and staff, but time is running out to register! Click here to sign up by Tuesday, April 18.

“Eating a diet rich in fruits and vegetables can help you feel better and have more energy throughout your day,” Scherer said. “At the end of the hour, you’ll have more confidence and ability with vegetarian cooking than when you arrived.”

At the event, you will:

  • Receive essential kitchen skills and meal planning tips
  • Get step-by-step instructions on preparing easy and simple dishes
  • Take home healthy recipes
  • Enjoy delicious food samples

Participants will also have an opportunity to win a bag of grocery items used to prepare the featured recipes!
