Reminder: Branding, logo guidelines for Michigan Medicine

With the organization recently changing its name to Michigan Medicine, there are several things to keep in mind when it comes to branding and logo guidelines.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • All areas are now unified under the Michigan Medicine logo. Rather than using the more than 2,000 logos associated with our various departments, programs and units, the umbrella Michigan Medicine logo should be used in conjunction with department names to reinforce our institution’s brand equity. See the example to the right.
  • Select groups will retain their own logos, due to donor/funding requirements. The following groups may use individual logos:
    • A. Alfred Taubman Medical Research Institute
    • Brehm Center for Diabetes Research
    • Comprehensive Cancer Center
    • C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital
    • Frankel Cardiovascular Center
    • Forbes Institute for Cancer Discovery
    • Heinz C. Prechter Bipolar Research Fund
    • Kellogg Eye Center
    • Kresge Hearing Research Institute
    • Mary H. Weiser Food Allergy Center
    • Rinne Lewy Body Dementia Initiative
    • University of Michigan Hospital
    • Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital
  • The usage of old logos should be discontinued.
  • Business cards, letterheads, signage and other printed materials should be updated only once the current supplies run out or need to be replaced. Exhaust your current materials before ordering new ones.
