C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital are expanding patient care.

The Brandon Newborn Intensive Care Unit will increase bed capacity from 46 single patient rooms to 52 single patient rooms, effective Monday, March 6. This expansion is due in part to the growing number of patients needing newborn ICU specialty care.

The beds will be located on 10W beside the Pediatric Cardio Thoracic ICU (PCTU).

While awaiting incremental certificate of need licenses from the State of Michigan, Brandon patients who were previously transferred to 12E will utilize the new beds, creating capacity on 12E for other general care patients.

The teams on 12E, Brandon NICU and PCTU made extraordinary collaborative efforts in accomplishing this work! In addition, ABCC, HITS, Materiel Services, Facilities, the C & W Administrative Team and others played a major supporting role in preparing the unit for patients.
