Workshop: Improve your coaching skills

This workshop is intended to expose faculty and senior level administrators to foundational concepts and applicable tools for one-on-one developmental coaching. Coaching is defined as a formal one-on-one collaborative relationship between a coach and a staff member or student where there is accountability and support for:

  • Understanding the coachee's developmental needs;
  • Creating a plan to address current challenges and explore possibilities; and
  • Reaching goals and engaging in continuous learning.

The workshop agenda will include an introduction to coaching, the coaching process, coaching skills and competencies, and coaching practice with peer assistance. 

Objectives of the workshop include:

  • Describing the differences between mentoring and coaching.
  • Outlining the four elements of the coaching process and the tools available to assist with each.
  • Defining the coaching relationship and its key concepts.

The workshop will be facilitated by Lynn Wooten, Ph.D., senior associate dean for student and academic excellence, Ross School of Business, and Jane Pettit, M.S., learning and development manager

Two sessions will be offered:

Dates: Monday, April 10 and Tuesday, May 30

Time: 8 a.m. – noon (Breakfast will be provided)

Where: BSRB Seminar Rooms, 1st floor
