It’s a bonus! UMHS lauded by CMS

November 3, 2016  //  FOUND IN: Michigan Medicine News

UMHS has earned a bonus for the quality of care provided to patients with Medicare.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services released data earlier this week showing which hospitals earned bonuses or had to pay a penalty due to performance in 26 quality measures.

UMHS was one of only 1,600 hospitals nationwide to be rewarded with a bonus — a total that’s down by more than 200 from last year.

The bonus and penalty system was created as part of the Hospital Value-Based Purchasing program that went into effect in 2012. It was established under the Affordable Care Act to pay for health care on the basis of quality and not quantity.

Congratulations to everyone at UMHS who works hard each day to make sure we deliver high quality care to every one of our patients!
