Children’s and women’s services celebrate 5th anniversary

In December 2011, the 11-story C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital facility opened its doors to patients from all over the world.

The facility was designed from the ground up by patients, families, faculty and staff to be a family-centered environment for the renowned medical care our community has come to expect from the University of Michigan.

Since the grand opening, faculty and staff have celebrated many achievements and firsts, but the milestones UMHS is most proud of are those of our patients. For every birthday and bat mitzvah, every medal won and finish line crossed, every “last chemo” and every “first step,” our patients serve as an inspiration to continue carrying out our mission of providing world-class care.

To celebrate the facility’s 5th birthday, faculty and staff are invited to a variety of activities planned throughout the week:

Tuesday, Nov. 29

  • Photo booth, 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. (Lobby)
  • Window painting (Lobby)

Wednesday, Nov. 30

  • Window painting (Lobby)
  • Photo booth, 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. (Lobby)
  • Holiday tree lighting, 3 p.m. (Lobby), featuring guest appearances by Ronald McDonald and “Motty”
  • U-M Musical Theatre Program performance, 3 p.m. (Lobby)

Thursday, Dec. 1

  • Window painting (Lobby)
  • 2017 Calendar Autograph Party, 3:30 p.m. (Getaway and Play Café), featuring guest appearance by “Motty”
  • U-M Musical Theatre Program performance, 3 p.m. (Lobby)

Friday, Dec. 2

  • Free cupcakes, 8 a.m. until gone (Getaway and Play Café)
  • Window painting (Lobby)
