Open Enrollment on the way

The 2017 Open Enrollment period is almost here!

UMHS faculty and staff may change benefits for 2017 during this year’s Open Enrollment period, which runs from Oct. 24 until Nov. 4. Eligible individuals may change medical, dental, vision and legal plans or enroll in a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) by logging into Wolverine Access during this time frame.

While there are no major benefit changes for 2017, you should take the time before Open Enrollment begins to review your current benefits and coverage. Now is also the ideal time to review your dependent coverage in anticipation of major life events coming up in the next year, such as retirement.

The U-M Open Enrollment website lists rates for 2017 and provides a digital book that you may download to learn more about the Open Enrollment process. All benefit changes and new rates will take effect on Jan. 1 and continue through the end of 2017.

If you like your current benefits and would like to keep them, you are not required to take any action during Open Enrollment — with one exception. IRS rules do not allow FSA enrollments to continue across calendar years. You will need to re-enroll in order to participate in an FSA for 2017.

If you have questions about benefits or Open Enrollment, call the Shared Services Center at 734-615-2000 or 866-647-7657 toll free, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
