Earn free CME/CEU credit by completing online course in LGBTQ patient-centered care
UMHS is an organization committed to providing patient-centered care to a wide and diverse population. That is why all faculty and staff are encouraged to take advantage of free online courses focused on the health and well-being of LGBTQ patients.
The multitude of training options are provided in partnership with the National LGBT Health Education Center and participants who complete a course will receive CME/CEU credits.
For those new to the National LGBT Health Education Center, one of the following sessions will be ideal:
- Meeting the Health Care Needs of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender People: The End to LGBT Invisibility: In this webinar, Dr. Harvey Makadon of the National LGBT Health Education Center provides an overview of LGBT health disparities, demographics and terminology, as well as key strategies for bringing high quality care to LGBT people at health centers and other health care organizations.
- Creating an Inclusive Environment for LGBT Patients and Staff at Your Health Center: The National LGBT Health Education Center’s Heidi Holland, M.Ed., describes strategies and model policies for creating LGBT-inclusive health care spaces. These recommendations are designed to support health centers and other health care organizations in the outreach/recruitment, support, and retention of both LGBT patients and employees.
In order to receive CME/CEU credit, you need to register online with the National LGBT Health Education Center. If prompted to provide a facility ID, please enter 55786. You must complete a session and an evaluation in order to receive credit.
All employees are encouraged to complete their coursework by Nov. 1, which will help UMHS maintain its certification as a Healthcare Equality Index leader.
Thank you for raising awareness of our diverse patient population and contributing to their positive experience at UMHS.
