Department celebrates Spiritual Care Week

We’re in the midst of National Spiritual Care Week, a perfect time to celebrate and thank the chaplains who work every day and night for patients, families and staff members at UMHS.

The UMHS Spiritual Care Department has caring and experienced chaplains available to support patients, family and employees through difficult times. The chaplains listen and respect the dignity and differences in culture, religion and lifestyles for everyone who seeks their support.

While UMHS chaplains represent a variety of religions and faith traditions, the Spiritual Care Department also has contacts with others in the community and can help arrange a visit from a religious leader of your choosing.

Chaplains are on-site 24 hours per day Monday through Friday, and from 6 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. A chaplain is on-call during all other hours of the weekend. If you or one of your patients needs a chaplain or more information on spiritual care at UMHS, please contact the department at ext. 6-4041 or by paging 2919.
