Course on caring for older adults coming soon

U-M is offering a course for health care professionals on best practices for caring for older adults. The course, “Clinical Issues in the Care of Older Adults — Embracing Complexity: Caring for Older Patients with Multimorbidity,” will take place Thursday, Sept. 29 at The Kensington Hotel in Ann Arbor.

The course is intended for physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, social workers, pharmacists, visiting nurses, home health aides and other practitioners taking care of older adults in the community, hospitals and nursing homes.

At the conclusion, participants will be able to implement new management and treatment approaches for older patients with multimorbidity. Topics to be discussed will include individualizing a diabetes care plan, prioritizing medications, colonoscopy screenings and infectious diseases.

This course has been approved for AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™, AOA Category 2A Credits, and AAFP Prescribed Credits. Determination of credit is pending for CEs with the Michigan Social Work Continuing Education Collaborative.
