The Joint Committee of the Johnson & Johnson-Pharmaceuticals Research and Development /University of Michigan Postdoctoral Research Program is requesting proposals for support of post-doctoral fellows in several areas of cancer research. The type of research eligible for support within these broad areas includes the following:
• Immuno-Oncology: reversal of immune suppression, enhancement of natural killer/effector cell targeting and activity, tumor inflammation
• Cancer Stem Cells; stem cell niche; regulatory pathways and cell surface targets; cancer dormancy/tumor initiating cells/micrometastasis
• Cytotoxic Biologics; enhanced effector function (ADCC/ADCP); directed effector cell killing; antibody drug conjugates
• Molecular regulatory mechanisms of cancer pathogenesis
Postdocs in the program should be from groups typically underrepresented in the biomedical sciences. They will be jointly advised by scientists from Michigan and J&J-PRD with the goal of establishing solid ties between investigators at each institution. Generous salary support and some research support for the laboratory is available in this program.
Collaborations between Michigan and J&J-PRD scientists do not already have to be established to apply for support from this program. You do not need to have identified a candidate for this support prior to submitting an application. If your proposal is selected for funding, you will be given time to recruit a postdoc prior to start of funding.
Some statements of research interest from investigators at J&J, who have already expressed interest in this program by responding to an earlier message, are also available through the website. These may be helpful in identifying potential collaborators for joint training, as described in the Program Description. The Joint Committee may also aid in identifying laboratories at J&J that might be appropriate for collaborations.
For more complete information, please visit http://med.umich.edu/postdoc/jandj.html. Full application forms and budget templates will be available at the site very shortly.
Please feel free to contact Colin Duckett, Victor DiRita, or Joel Swanson – U-M members of the Joint Advisory Committee – for further information regarding this program.
