A message from James O. Woolliscroft, M.D., dean, U-M Medical School
Thank you for voting on the proposal to create a joint Department of Biomedical Engineering with the U-M College of Engineering. Our faculty voted overwhelmingly to proceed with the proposal. It will next be presented to the U-M Regents for their consideration, and if approved, the new joint department would be launched in September.
Faculty also strongly supported the change to the Medical School bylaws that outlines how we will implement the extension of upper limit on tenure probationary periods from eight to 10 years. If you have any questions about this, please contact the Office of Faculty Affairs (763-0253).
Thank you for taking this opportunity to express your views and influence the work of our Medical School.
James O. Woolliscroft, M.D.
Dean, Medical School
Lyle C. Roll Professor of Medicine
