Securing and Implementing NIH R01s with International Partners – Views from Two PIs (June 11)

This presentation will feature two U-M Medical School PIs who are leading R01 projects that are funded by NIH institutes other than Fogarty, and include substantial work with partners in other countries. U-M Global REACH and the Medical School Office of Research are sponsoring this event which will take place on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. in the Seminar Rooms, Taubman BSRB (Biomedical Science Research Building).  A light dinner will be served.

Betsy Lozoff, M.D., (Pediatrics & Communicable Diseases) will discuss “Timing, Duration, and Severity of Infant Iron Deficiency: Developmental Impacts” (NICHD) working with partners in Beijing. Dr. Lozoff is also working with partners in other parts of China, Chile and Costa Rica.

Akinlolu O. Ojo, M.D., M.P.H., Ph.D., (Internal Medicine – Nephrology) will discuss “A Clinical Trial to Prevent New Onset Diabetes after Transplant” (NIDDK). Dr. Ojo is working with partners in Brazil and Africa.
