Lisa A. Newman, M.D., M.P.H., F.A.C.S., a professor of surgery and director at the University of Michigan Breast Care Center, was chosen as one of The Detroit News’ Michiganians of the Year for 2012.
Newman was selected because of her research in genetics as it related to breast cancer research, focusing on the disparities among African-American women.
