UMHS makes national 100 Great Hospitals list

Becker’s Hospital Review has named the U-M Health System to its annual list of “100 Great Places to Work in Healthcare.”

The list includes academic medical centers, community hospitals, health systems, ambulatory surgery centers and physician groups that the publication says offer robust benefit packages, positive work environments, excellent employee recognition programs and opportunities for professional development and continuing education.

The Becker’s Hospital Review editorial team analyzed data from reputable sources including U.S. News & World Report, Truven Health Analytics’ 100 Top Hospitals, HealthGrades, Magnet Recognition by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, the Studer Group and the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program, to establish the 2013 list. Hospital nominations were also accepted and evaluated by the editorial team. Hospitals cannot pay to be included on this list.

About the U-M Health System, the Becker’s editorial team says:

“The University of Michigan Health System’s employees have some of the most comprehensive and competitive benefits in the region, including a range of financial benefits, work-life balance resources and support services. The health system offers health, dental and vision coverage, and employees can earn up to six weeks of paid-time off. All system employees have access to U-M’s child care center and care services for aging parents, and the system supports employees’ well-being through various activities, including regular health screenings, cooking classes and a walking club.”
