New MCommunity Directory will replace U-M Online Directory next week

Next week, the new MCommunity Directory will replace the current University of Michigan Online Directory (previously known as “x500”).

The new directory will contain more accurate contact details (phone, email, mail) and other information for all members of the U-M community, and offer better privacy protection. All email groups from the directory will be migrated to MCommunity automatically.

Once the new directory is live, the web page directory.umich.edu will look different, and a search on that page will search the MCommunity Directory.

There will be outages of several related systems during the transition to the new directory from 5 p.m. Thursday, July 14 through 7 a.m. Monday, July 18. For example, you will not be able to make changes to your own directory entry during this time, or add new individuals or groups. All outages will be announced through the ITS Service Status page.
