Living With Low Vision (May 14)

Vision loss doesn’t have to mean the loss of independence or quality of life. This workshop, presented by low vision rehabilitation specialists from the U-M Kellogg Eye Center, will focus on causes and symptoms of vision impairment and the available rehabilitation services to help you see beyond vision loss.

Topics discussed:

• Macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and retinitis pigmentosa

• The Low Vision Evaluation

• Optical Devices

• Rehabilitation services available to help promote skills and strategies necessary to maintain or improve independence in activities of daily living

• Living with Vision Loss Support Group – monthly meeting on the 2nd Wednesday of each month, from 2– 4 p.m., Kellogg Eye Center

Speakers will include Donna Wicker, O.D., F.A.A.O, optometrist, instructor, Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, Kellogg Eye Center and Karen Murphy, OTRL, SCLV, occupational therapist, specialty certification in Low Vision, Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, Kellogg Eye Center.

This talk will take place May 14 from 2 – 3:15 p.m. at Hillside Terrace Retirement Community, 1939 Jackson Avenue, Ann Arbor, Mich.
