Becker’s Hospital Review names UMHS among top integrated health systems and Paul Castillo as top CFO

The U-M Health System received multiple accolades this month from Becker’s Hospital Review.

The publication included UMHS on its first annual list of “100 Integrated Health Systems to Know,” which features health systems that focus on the continuum of care, from wellness and preventive services to urgent care, inpatient care, outpatient care, hospice, health plan offerings and more.

The Becker’s Hospital Review editorial team selected health systems based on rankings by healthcare analytics company IMS Health, as well as health systems’ financial, clinical and operational strength.

Additionally, Paul Castillo, chief executive officer of UMHS, was named one of the top hospital CFOs in the country by Becker’s.

Castillo was included on the list, “125 Hospital and Health System CFOs to Know.” These men and women help lead renowned tertiary centers, academic medical centers, community hospitals and health systems in all financial matters while balancing quality patient care and innovative healthcare reform strategies.

The Becker’s Hospital Review editorial team used several resources to develop this list, including nominations, prior Becker’s Hospital Review lists, and input from industry experts.

Paul Castillo has been CFO of University of Michigan Health System since September 2011.
