Health System launches improved homepages for C&W, UMHHC

Patients First—accessibility and usability improvements on MottChildren.org and UofMHealth.org

Two of the Health System’s most widely-used public homepages have been revamped and improved to make information easier to find and features easier to navigate.

The homepage for C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital, www.mottchildren.org, and the one-stop shop to find UMHS physicians, services, news and health information, www.uofmhealth.org, have been updated.

The new homepages include an improved “site search” feature located on every webpage in the upper-right corner to help users easily find the information they need. Search improvements include:

  • an index of all content
  • finding exact terms and phrases
  • results filtered by medical service, location, physician profile and news
  • new “Did you mean” function to help users find useful information quickly

The sites have been created with responsive design—a feature that allows them to be viewed consistently, regardless of device. Nearly 50 percent of our website visitors are on a smart phone, tablet or other device.

In fiscal year 2013, we welcomed:

  • 2.4 million visitors
  • who viewed 9.2 million pages.

In Sept. alone, UofMHealth.org and MottChildren.org had 900,000 page views.

Website users can submit feedback, suggestions and troubleshooting issues to PRMCWEBSUPPORT@UMICH.EDU.
